In vitro fertilization is taken outside the body in a labratory procedure. The egg and sperm are mixed together, and then the fertilized egg is placed into the uterus of the woman. This method is suggested when the woman has blocked or damaged oviducts. There are many pros and cons of this method (IVF). Some advantages of In vitro fertilization are couples that are facing issues with infertility, Can use this method to possibly have a child. It's helpful for women with blocked Fallopian tubes or for men with a low sperm count. Another advantage is that in vitro fertilization could also be a treatment any time a couple decides to use donor eggs, when the woman is having trouble producing her own. A third advantage is the IVF treatment can greatly reduce surgery on woman's Fallopian tubes. It is estimated that IVF has cut these surgeries by nearly fifty percent.
In vitro fertilization also has many disadvantages as well. Some cons are the cost, To get this procedure done it cost about 10000-12000 each time you try it. Another con or disadvantage is the success rate is only about 30%. A third disadvantage is having multiple births. Five Percent of the time, women that use In vitro fertilization process, have more than the one desired child. The last disadvantage involves ethical morals. Many times not all the fertilized eggs are being used and some people believe that this is a waste of life.

My thoughts on the usage throughout North America is that after researching about In vitro fertilization and knowing the advantages and disadvantages and so on, i think if i were infertile and wanting to have a child i wouldn't mind spending the money to get this procedure done but first i would look for easier options.
