Photocell is a solid-state device that converts light into electrical energy by producing a voltage, as in a photovoltaic cell, or uses light to regulate the flow of current as in a photoconductive cell: used in automatic control systems for doors, lighting, etc.

Potentiometer is an instrument for measuring electromotive forces. Also is a voltage divider. An instrument for measuring an unknown voltage by comparison to a standard voltage.

LED is a semiconductor diode that emits light when a voltage is applied to it and that is used especially in electronic devices (as for an indicator light) LED stands for Light-emitting diode.

A DC motor is a mechanically commutated electric motor powered from direct current. The stator is stationary in space by definition and therefore the current in the rotor is switched by the commutator to also be stationary in space.

A stepper motor is a brushless DC electric motor that divides a full rotation into a number of equal steps. The motor's position can then be commanded to move and hold at one of these steps.

AC Power is Power in an electric circuit is the rate of flow of energy past a given point of the circuit. In alternating current circuits, energy storage elements such as inductance and capacitance may result in periodic reversals of the direction of energy flow.

DC power which is Direct current is the unidirectional flow of electric charge. Direct current is produced by sources such as batteries, thermocouples, solar cells, and commutator-type electric machines.

Infrared is electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength just greater than that of the red end of the visible light spectrum but less than that of microwaves. Infrared radiation has a wavelength from about 800 nm to 1 mm, and is emitted particularly by heated objects.

Proton is a stable subatomic particle occurring in all atomic nuclei, with a positive electric charge equal in magnitude to that of an electron, but of opposite sign. Protons are located inside the nucleus unlike the electrons which are located outside the nucleus.
